| im using one in my xd to give me petrol / lpg timing maps, it does work ok, however the timing is not 100% accurate it does vary by a degree or so here and there, but otherwise has been in the car for about 12 monts and still works fine. |

Thats awesome, did you put it together yourself?
Was it worth the $90 plus the time to put it together?
I'd love to find someone competent on here who would put it together for a small charge, perhaps a group buy and a person puts them all together and makes some money
Cheers for the info, anyone else used them?

it works out to a bit more than that, ie you need the coil driver and hand controller, which comes to around $200.
I can supply you the complete assembled unit, hand controller, cable to suit and coil driver for around $350 + delivery, then you'd just need to wire it in, set it up, and go. |

For $200 you would be better off getting a Megasquirt ECU and just using it as an ignition controller. That way you would have a fully mapable ignition system, with the added bonus of being able to control injection as well in the future.
You can get a MS1 Ver 2.2 kit for US$139 plus US$8 for an ignition driver. Or US$240 plus US$8 for a fully assembled one. Check out www.diyautotune.com they have excelent service.
Cheers
Daniel

| I ran 1 of these kits on a 75 Lancer a few years ago and it was alright but as mentioned earlier not quite 100% accurate but depending on what your fitting it to it may do the job you need. |

Can i ask though, once i buy and install the MS1 v2.2 with all the included updates, am i able to tune it easily from the laptop or do i need to take it to a dyno shop?
Thanks again, im ordering one of these in the next fortnight |

Yeah i built a very solid cell and it turned out great, i was producing a modest amount of hho.
Plugged it in, made sure it was running proper, went for a drive, it seemed to use 1-2litres per hundred less (over a 20km drive) brand the car back home, walked inside, an hour later i come out and the thing is smoking, i forgot to unplug it. The water was boiling too!
Honestly with no touching electrodes the water was boiling from the conductivity from the added baking soda.
I'll pick it up when i get back from work, although i have lpg on the car then which will be killer!
So does anyone have any first hand experience with the MS1 ?
Thanks |

Hi Gas Man,
I've done a number of megasquirt installs but they have all been MS2. But I sould be able to answer your questions.
Yes you can easily tune the ignition table from your laptop. Tuning on a dyno would be nice if you want every last HP out of it, but you should be able to get close just street tuning it.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
Daniel. |

Hey everyone, thanks for all the feedback.
im looking at buying the MS1 with the MS2 software installed.
If i take it to a dyno place that tunes them, how long should it take them to get some good figures, also do you think it is worth it.
The falcon im driving atm has:
-4L 6
-wade cam for a suited to a supercharger that was on there when i bought it, no longer fitted or owned.
-jmm 3000 hi stall
-Pacemaker extractors suited to the supercharger, that is no longer, lol
-2.5 inch exhaust that has a straight through cat, one muffler and a cannon.
-Homemade shift kit, not that that makes any difference.
I suspect its currently pulling 120rwkw's as it runs well at high revs, i have owned a standard EL before.
How do you go about tuning the car via laptop?
-Does the software make it easy or can you download maps etc?
(copied straight from the PM i have sent Davojet, just incase he is too busy to respond)
Cheers |
