What have people done in the way fo custom grills, or even just the standard grills?

I will be getting rid of my bloody chrome bubble grill off the lane shortly, and thinking of something a bit out of the ordinary. So i was wondering what people have done.

If people could post a picture of there grills, it would be appreciated.

Dunno if theres much you can do apart from fit a NF fairlane grille which looks better than the NL type, or mesh a EF Fairmont grille and add chrome strip around the edge of the mesh to tidy it up.

PM 'low ghia' he will tell you how he did his icon_smile.gif

Yeah i really dont know what they were thinking with the NL grill, it is just way out there and looks cheap and nasty!

I dunno, ive been thinking of something custom (as in getting a shop to make one up form scratch), but i really dont know where to start with designing one. I really dont mind where the design comes from, as long as it looks goo on the e series shape.

colour change grille...

chrome when u look at it straight on and it changes to gold the more of a angle you move to, or if your in the shade

straight on-- hard to get a pic cos of the mirrored backing behind the mesh

How much did that cost you mate?
What would you sell a grill liek that for? eg if i sent mine up and you chromed it and added the grill?
It looks awsome but will go good with the EL Fairmont moulds rather that the EF ones IMO

costs are paint stripper, few sheets sandpaper, autosol, acrylic clear, mesh. As for how much would i charge, prolly heaps lol.....your better off having a go at it yourself mate, its not too hard icon_smile.gif

Ive got it on the car now, and it looks nice but needs more chrome in the front bar to help it blend in more

EL chrome moulds look ugly in my opinion...... dunno what to do really?

Il have a go at it once i get the EL grill i bought for $50!!!

EL chrome moulds are ugly but wth a grill like that it would help it blend in.
Chrome the center peice of the bar..it might help it blend in.

Hey guys i was thinking of modding my EF grill. Take that plastic crap out and putting some chrome mesh to replace it and also put the same mesh i use for the grill in front bar.
(Same sort of thing FordFairmont did but I'm going to keep the grill the same colour of the car not chrome.)
I was thinking of cutting the bonnet behind the grill so i actually have a functioning grill. (ELGT style)
My questions are:
1. Is it ok to cut anywhere behind the grill or should i cut it in the same place as the ELGT had it cut?
2. Do i need to reinforce the bonnet as I'm cutting a part of it out?
