Firstly i wouldnt cut a hole anywhere, there wouldnt be much benefit anyway.
And if you remove the plastic section in the middle, you will have 7 large holes left behind where it clips in. Better off removing the badge and grinding the raised section of the grill flat, then fitting the mesh and badge over the top of it.
When i cut out the mesh i left a small lip extra so it folds over the edge of the plastic section of the grille so it was held on securely when i clipped it back in. Also drilled a screw in behind the badge to hold it on better |

Thanks!.. she's not up to the standards of some other cars here.. but she has been to the moon and back... quater miled tonnes of times.. dyno comps.. burnout comps.. and long road trips.. even camped in.. lol... |

just a warning though to not go licking the...
