i would leave it. The headbolts are meant to be torqued once i believe

WHS. The head bolts are torque to yield...or something along those lines. Only need to be tightened once. Though you can re-tighten the exhaust and inlet bolts, some might come loose the first time round.

heating and cooling of the motor and settling of the new gasket may cause uneven tension on the head bolts. That is the theory anyway. Certainly hasn't caused any problems by doing it, but i have no idea whether it was really necessary.
If others are sayin no then i wouldn't waste time with it when i have to do it again...

is your mechanic an old school mechanic??
your suppose to re torque head bolts by nipping them up so to speak.
not un doing them and doing them back up that defeats the purpose of re tensioning them..

but as others have said you dont need to re torque the had bolts on a i6 falcon as they are torque to yield bolts.. now you risk early failure of the head bolts and gasket because you have undone them and done them up again(stretched the bolts). they are only suposed to be torqued once..

U dont re-use head bolts!

they are Torque to Yield bolts.......they lose their Yield strength.

U have to use new ones each time.

with the head bolts you only torque them up once. but some cheap head gaskets need to be retensioned after a tank of fuel. im my view just spend the extra $$$ an get a monotorque one.
btw my mate changes heads on his i6s an never changes headbolts lol
