Who here would be interested in buying a ECU fault code reader? It will be hand held, have a LCD screen and take down the Fault code and tell you wat it is...

Something nice and easy to use, able to be kept in the car all the time etc.

Any interest?
If there is i can get them made at work...
I'd say it will be about anywhere between 25 and 45 of something.
I'm gonna knock one up for myself and see how much parts come to.

Should be able to make them for all the different models... But as i only have a EL i'm not sure how the earlier ones work. I have a BA that i could do some tests on too...

We're aiming for it to hook up then sit there blank till all the tests are done. Then it will display one at a time... Like "654 - Check ABS" then it will go on to the next one etc etc.
To clear it you wll have to switch it off.

Another option we thought about was just a One line screen that displays the number. Then you would need a Workshop book with the list of codes in it tho...
I just think it should make it a s**t load easier... With my car i have at least 4-6 fault codes, and to try and keep track of the flashes etc... way to hard.

And also you could use this for the "Wiggle Test" too... So hook it up, go around the engine bay and move everything and see if any faults come up from loose wires etc... Saves having two people.(One to watch the light and record - Other to wiggle everything)

Let me know what you think...

I'd like one, i've got one of the ones that someone else on here made previously. It's very nice, would definately be interested in upgrading to one with an LCD screen.
