Well I don't think Nitrous is legal in any state, you can have it installed in a number of states but the lines must be dissconected. Kits will start at about $1100+ for a standard EFI kit and go upto $2k+ for progressive control etc. Personally I don't like Nitrous, it puts a lot of strain on the engine and contaminates the oil with the by-products causing increased wear. It is great bang for buck but I would put that money into other mods that will give me more power all the time, but thats just me.

OK, legalities for NOS on the street are as follows for NSW at least
1 The Kit can be installed no problems
2 the bottle MUST NOT be connected to the kit anytime the vehicle is driven on a public road.
As to how it goes in an E series V8, i personally have a 150 hp dry kit in my Ghia and have no problems with it at all
On going costs 120 for the initial fill, then a max of 120 for every other fill.
Hidden costs- Bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors, special plugs, adjustable fuel reg, upgraded ignition. Similar to a naturally aspirated motor.
My vehicle went from 109rwkw dead stock (143000kms) to 140rwkw with all mods so far, to 219rwkw when the NOS is activated.
It is a great sleeper. If you are worried about fitting it, then dont. Then tuning for mine has amounted to over 3 hrs on the Dyno, with more to come, as a new inlet manifold and coil are about to be fitted, and the unichip will need its last retune for this year. We are looking for 253rwkw solidly with the NOS and 150-160 without. will keep you all advised. I have put over 3000k on the motor since the NOS kit was installed and havent looked back.
Important note to those that want to play with NOS. Ensure your mill is in tip top condition. Do all the mods you would naturally aspirated, then tune it, the fit NOS, then tune it again.
Plugs, coil and mixtures must be spot on. the slightest problem either way will kill your engine. When tuning the NOS kit, start small and work up in baby steps. Make sure your fuel supply is up to scratch. Make sure your ingition system is up to scratch. Be conservative and all will be fine. Read NOS for me on this sight in V8 workshop to see how i did it
