Can anyone fill me in on what a Tweecer is, what can you do with it and where do you get one?? I'm fairly new to this stuff and curious to whats out there to play with an EL Futura I6.

Tweecer basically plugs into the EEC and allows you to produce custom tuning maps for the standard computer, amoungst other things... actually allows you to edit ALL of the data stored in the EEC, within reason.
No support for EF, EL...

| A TwEECer is a little device that plugs into the EEC computer and lets you monitor what's happening and modify it (not sure if that's in real time or not though). Unfortunately though, it only works with EEC-4 cars which excludes your EL Futura which is EEC-5. |

Not True : Tweecer also works with EEC-5's as well. Talk to XR9Ute/Pete

| Suppose it can be used on EEC-V, where do you get it? do you need a lap top or pc to run it or is it a handheld thing?? Is there any websites with info on it?? |

Yeah, technically so. But no Aussie EEC-V's are supported yet.
XY4XDAN - the units are programmed with a laptop.
Check out www.tweecer.com or just have a general search on the internet. They are very popluar with the Mustang crowd in the US of A. |

Would it be possible to use a yank ECU and then use a tweecer with that, or will that cause grief with running with smartlock and all that??
Does anyone know if yank ecu's use the same loom plugs etc |

Yeah, tricky with dashboard control, smartlock, auto box on I6 etc.
Best bet would be to get a compatible ECU and run two ECU's in your car - have the compatible ECU (i.e. mustang A9L EEC-IV) with tweecer running to control fuel, spark, emissions etc. and have the standard ECU controlling "the rest" (including auto gearbox if fitted).
If that makes sense? |

| EEC V is being worked on at the moment I believe although V8 EECs will probably come first. As 4.9 EF Futura said, the best bet would be to run a seperate supported EEC for the engine management and keep the stock one to control the rest of the stuff, although this will work out fairly expensive. |

um... is it available on the EBII's (EEC-IV)? Ive got a pre smartlock one, and I thought they were a V8 thing, as I saw no one with a tweecer in a 6.

Agreed. I've already raised a provision 
Justfordima - there's nothing stopping I6 users from using tweecer, I just dont think any EEC binaries have been defined for these engines. |

There is support for a number of EB and ED I6's but its only minimal which probably means the basic timing and fuel maps. |

| EF Futura, I'm pretty well computer illiterate, so could you explain what you mean about being able to use tweecer on an I6 if there isn't any binaries defined yet, can any tuning be done at all, or is it just a monitoring type application to observe any changes you make mechanically. Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I'm keen to learn!! |

Without defined binaries you cannot do anything with the Tweecer, as I said there are a few I6 binaries which have minimal support but it will be a while until you see any real support for I6's IMO. If you want to use a Tweecer now then you will have to run a dual EEC setup, the stock one and then a supported V8 EEC like the US A9L just to control the engine. |

| just curious but a mechanic i know has himself a copy of 'tech2' on his laptop, apparantly it can tune anything. im not sure, but has anyone here heard anything bout it and can we tune our EECV-5 cars with it? |

Tech2 is used to reprogram holden's not fords. |

Pretty much nothing, really all that can be adjusted is base timing and you don't need a dyno to do that. A dyno is more usefull for diagnosing problems with AF ratio etc or identifying low power. |
