Posted: Mon Oct 09, 2006 11:31 pm Post subject: Pulling a decent Pre-Staging burnout ...HOW? |
|
|
As title suggests...
I haven't pulled a burnout in EONS, so can anyone here give me a step-by-step guide on how to pull a decent one for Pre-staging at the drags ...including best gear / pedal sequence / revs / braking? etc...
Cheers. |

| Ummm it's not something you can describe.. just something you can learn.. maybe if you watch the pedals while someone else is doing it? |

| let the clutch out faster than usual...then when the wheels start spinning at a resonable pace jump on the anchors....to early and u will end the burnout! |

Drop the clutch at 4500, once you start building revs while spinning, move your toes onto the brake and apply pressure sufficient to stop you moving forward. Once you get to about 5500 rpm flatshift if you can into 2nd (otherwise clutch into 2nd, but it's pretty bad for the clutch) and continue to floor it with the brake on to hold you in place.
If you lose too many revs between gears you'll probably stall, or at the very least lurch forward and get traction back.
Do it too much and you'll burn your clutch though. I pretty much had f**k teh clutch and diff in the xr6 when i sold it :p.
The best way to do it really though is to clamp your brake lines, plant your toes on the brake and rev to about 4500 and drop the clutch and just hold it there.
You may not be able to keep it spinning in second, I only pulled it off a few times, but the MASSIVE increase in smoke is well worth the effort lol. |

| yeh once it's spinning hard in first, while it's still on the wet patch that's usually at drag strips, pop it into second. slowly roll off onto the bitumen and she'll be smoking in no time. |

yeah that's it. you gotta get it into second, or you'll mostly skip on the spot, not really travelling fast enough to burn the tyres. |

hm. yeah that's not a bad idea, a stocko won't be able to pull it off though, and i don't think the dev5 will either. chances are it'll have no power down low and will stall as soon as he comes off the clutch. |

again, his car has a very aggressive cam, i wouldn't expect it to have any power at very low revs. |

Dump 2nd and snap 3rd...
In the water box, my car can dump in 3rd quite comfortably.
Rev it up to 5000 and drop the clutch. |

| well if it has an agresive cam it should be even easier to light it up in second any way are we talkingh about laying a burn out or just putting heat in the tyres. |

Arm the NOS, floor it in drive, and feather the throttle til addequate heat is in the slicks, or do it in 1st, and as it approaches 6000rpm, snick 2nd and all is good.
Oh sorry, you have a manual 6pot, my bad
