| I wouldnt bother. the Hdd heat sinks arer good if you are running a drive farm. Ramsinks are like spoilers or stickers on cars. completely useless. Ram doenst usually get hot even when overclocked. |

Hard drive cooler: Essential if you have a 7200RPM drive (most 40gb drives upwards will be) or if your case has s**t ventilation or a lot of hot components. it will prolong the life of your HDD by a long time.
RAM sinks: not worth it unless your after a huge overclock with really high DIMM voltages, or if your system has RDRAM (which if it does will already have them) |

yeh but in the same sense by the time u buy a new hard drive your on the 4th or 5th PC they last forever without the coolers....if u arent running raid arrays or high rpm drives like 15000rpm scsi dont bother
and RAM as everyones said unless your overclocking pretty hard core or have a cPU that runs very hot next to your memory banks dont worry bout them either. |

its better to look at it this way, do you have data on your HDD that youd rather not loose? and do you have a spare $20.
i had a 60gb 7200 rpm HDD start to make the HDD of death sounds, UNTILL i put it in a cooler then no more sounds and i still have it as a backup drive today |

if you have data on your hdd that you'd rather not lose, you'd be wise to back it up onto a cd/dvd or another storage medium.
the drives are designed to work properly in static air, if they weren't then they would ship with active cooling + they wouldnt come with warranties |

| Check your hdd's. If theyre hot to touch you should increase air circulation. Dont pretend hdd's are built to handle all conditions these days, many drives crap out very easily due to heat related problems (wont mention any brands in particular but ive got one in mind). |
