Posted: Sun Jun 15, 2008 11:08 am Post subject: Really Slow Torrent Downloads |
|
|
Last month was my first month of being on a capped plan - it was a bit learning curve - such as that the data limit is split into 2 different times, that uploads were counted, etc.
Anyways, today, the nets back at full speed as it's the new billing period, but now I'm suddenly finding that my downloads in uTorrent are going really really slow - 6kb/s max on my 1500 ADSL plan - I've tried a fair few different torrents, there's plenty of seeds and peers.
Any ideas on what to do?
I changed the port to another random port, and set up port forwarding on it, no change. I've checked and I don't have any download bandwith limit settings. |

Mine is similar, and i had a look on whirlpool forum and found there are tons of complaints from people on my isp, i found they limit speeds.
Go to whirlpool and look up your isp and see what they have to say about them. |

I tried a different port and set up port forwarding for it.
I installed Azureus, and with the exact same torrent file I can get 120kb/s. So either my ISP is limiting uTorrent or somewhere along the line the uTorrent settings have stuffed. |

120 is still avg on a 1500 conection, mine used to hit 150 to 160 peak.
I found port forwarding was more for uploading and not downloading, it just showed the torrent site that i'm connectable and being a good boy for seeding, otherwise my download speeds were always the same with or without setting the port. |
