I have just purchased a set of 6.5 inch splits, and want to know if there is anything really wrong sound wise with putting them at the back of the car?

I have also been given a set of nice 4 inch speakers and want to put these in the front.

Can I put both parts of the splits in the back, or should I run the tweeters up toward the front of the car?

Any help would be great.

Cheers

its simple where do u sit in the car when listening, the front or back? you need splits in the front otherwise all the tops are waisted on ur legs and ur ears. in the back the stereo imaging is only good for the rear passangers.

No, I disagree, just aim them well so that the sound is traveling directly to your ears. I wouldn't put them close to my ears as all that trebble being played so close to my ears would drive me nuts!

I totally agree. There is enough power for you to get enough sound even without it sitting right in your ear. Thats just annoying

personally i wouldnt spend the extra $$ on a set of splits for the rear, just get a set of half decent coaxials, and spend the $$ on a better set of splits for the front

car stereos can only be set up to provide the best sound imaging (gives the impression of either being surrounded by the sound, or giving the impression of being at a live performance or just so the system sounds best to whoever's listening) and that may sound perfect to the driver wont sound as good to the passengers, or vice-versa

f**k the passengers enjoyment mate, it's your car, set it up so it sounds best for you!

thats what i like with my radio. at a certain volume you cannot tell where the sound is coming from. its not that it is full blast but a nice volume you cant even tell that it is speakers making the sound.

A guy once told me to have your best speakers up front which is where you sit. Passengers are only luggage and why spend the money on them. It is for you. Just use average for the rear.
