provided some one buys my hilux
i'll be putting a turbonetics T66 on my XR6
the plan so far is
rebuilt bottem end with Eagle H-beam rods, and JE race forged pistons
alloy flywheel all fully balanced
ported XR head
custom exhaust mainfold
custom upper half for BBM
75 or 80mm TB
custom turbonetics intercooler
godziller blow off valve in plumb back
racegate
3 inch exhaust
4inch "magic cat' cat
EMS 8860
T66
i know there is still lots to be added but thats the start of it. |

| sounds like a very nice setup if you get it going. Do you think that a T66 turbo will be a bit big? i feel you might be better going a T4 it will still produce the same amount that a 6 could handle, and would probably boost a lot quicker. Check out chefs turbo build up, he is running a T4 and from what ive read it boosts fairly early. |

It's a fairly large diamter BOV for letting LOTS of boost out QUICKLY - this sucker is big. Made by turbonetics i think.
They're noisy buggers too, but should be ok in a plumb back. You'll still hear it.
Hmmm, a quick look at the above list and it seems someone is chasing a LOT of power.
She's gonna need some serious injectors.

I have a friend with a t66 on his 2lt evo lancer. I t will be a bit laggy but not undriveable. All the japaneses Supras with 2.5lt motors run this turbo so it is not too extreme for a 4lt falcon.
As for the blow off valve it is an important item in protecting the turbo and promoting less lag. When you close the throttle at 7000rpm running 20psi there is a lot of pressure that cannot escape so it backs up to the turbo, the blow off valve releases this - it is quite important and does a lot more than simply making a PSHHT sound.
What kinda power figures are you hoping for with this car? SOunds massive! |

gonna be monster power . ... what HPrating do the T66's have....?
The parts list must be huge to cause i guessu'd be adding valve springs, race bearings....boring the head etc etc for low comp sounds sweet tho

I know a guy running a t66... and sounds very simular to another guy i knows plans.
Decent power and not too much lag.
itll be good for way over 500 ponys
You could leave the bottom end standrd for a while, it will stand up pretty well untill you get stupid amounts of power.
Once you know the powe you want, get the fuel pump n injectors... they gonna have to be pretty big.
AFAIK the ems controls fuel pressure, so a regulaor wont be needed |

Wouldn't billet steel be the wiser option with this (impressive) combo? |

i was concernd about lag with such a turbo, but our turbo guy said it wouldn't to bad with a 4L motor

the alloy one we get are rated to 1200HP and 8000RPM.
the're a 2 peice job (steel friction ring bolted on)

the're a 700hp turbo
yeah i have a spare tickford engine here and that one is getting the rebuild with ALL the good bits.
| Quote: | | What kinda power figures are you hoping for with this car? SOunds massive! |
don't really want to let on how much we are chasing just yet.
but lets just say that a T4 rated at 600hp was a little to close to its limits

thats it. big size for venting big air. They are not a regular type BOV they don't use a piston, they use a valve (like a cyl head valve)
we joke about them at work as looking like a converted waste gate
unfortunatly this will be a long term progect for me and will not go together as fast as chef as gotten his done.
the first thing is selling my hilux, the second is this is my daily car so i may have to buy a small cheap thing to get to work in for a while.
that being said i don't want you all to think i'm only dreaming, this IS going to happen it might not be finnished this year but i'm hopping for this time next year. That will give a few months befor the local car show to iron every thing out and get around 10 to 15 hours on the dyno |

| A mate of mine has a T66 roler bearing turbo on his VL and it spools up lower in the rev range than the stock T3. The garret GT series turbo's spoll up even earlier still. |

Garret t66 turbo's spool spool easy and early because they are a ball bearing turbo. You can easierly see how quick they would spin my just blowing some air through your mouth into the turbo. You can hear it start spooling just from that.
