I've got a gas converted XF with an 11 year old tank. I've called a few places chasing quotes for recertifying the tank, most are around $400 to remove the tank and send it away.

Does anyone know if it would be much cheaper to test that tank in the car, and if so who in Perth can do it?

thanks

It has to be removed mate, it gets strapped to a bench and pressure tested.
You're best to remove it yourself, but testing prices also vary, a multi valve tank is around $100 more to test than a 4 valve.

My mate charges $150 for 4 valve and $250 for multi valve tanks, extra to remove of course.
He charged me $130 to test mine.

Yes it has a tap, and i recommend driving it and running it out first.
You take the inspection plate off the back, undo the filler and service lines, and disconnect or remove the lockoff if fitted.
Undo all bolts for brackets and she'll slide out.
It doesn't take long, it's just a pain to undo the bolts if you don't have someone helping you, i usually use big vice grips underneath the car and lock them into place, then undo the bolts from the inside.

Got quoted $110 to get mine done if I remove it, or $200 to let them do it. Seeing there is only one place in Canberra that does it I was expecting to be raped.

I saw LPG yesterday at the Woolworth servo on Paradise RD in slacks creek for 46.5

They are nearly giving it away. You can also use a 4c off per litre woolies voucher with LPG too.

I was quoted $180 and it could be plus parts if the tank needs anything, if i bring it into the workshop, else it's more if they have to remove it from the vehicle. From a workshop in Hoppers Xing. They are going to convert my Hz Pano over to gas when i get it on the road & rego'd.

Cheers
