Well back in Feb i was cruising to Canberra for work and the 5.0 went BANG rattle Rattle Rattle. She sounded real sick, so whilst on course i dropped into a well known engine dude in the ACT and asked for a diagnosis. Diagnosis TERMINAL!!
I thought damn, time to finish the 427, so rang around and turns out i need a lot more than i have already put in so that scuttled that plan for a while. No probs park the Terrorist in the yard and pull it apart as time is available.
Well stripped the motor and what do ya know, blown head gasket between 1 and 2 cylinders. Had the heads checked and all good. So on the hunt for parts.
Full gasket kit etc. But there were a few other issues, namely i had sold some parts due to the fact i was told it was Terminal.
I had a spare 70mm TB so that wasnt an issue, but had sold my Cobra Rocker Covers and had none any more.So picked up some chrome FRPP Rocker Covers, all was looking sweet till i attempted to refit the RPMII, it fouled on the drivers side cover so i thought all it need s is another 1/2 inch lift, i know, lets fit that NOS plate i have had sitting around for a while.
So then the fun started, the plate doesnt clear the FPR or the rails for that matter so off to Summit i go for a full rail and reg kit.
Just waiting for them bits to turn up, but here are some teaser pics of where i am at until the rails arrives from the states.

Here are a few more pics, the NOS Plate and another veiw of the side. It actually sits quite tall, and clears the bonnet cause of the bulge, but a small bit of trimming of the inside on the rear of the bonnet will be needed to close properly.

Yes the 1/2 in spacer still hit, these are the tall Ford Racing Covers. I never had an issue with the Ford Racing EFI Covers, cept the oil filler was on the wrong side with the RPMII reversed for Aussie falcons.
Thanks troy, now when am i going to see some painted skirts, and i will have some mirrors for you to if i get off my a*** and get to bills to pick them up.

are you still running the 3 vac port's from the front of the upper manifold?
as i've got a typhoon "performer knock off" and are thinking of duplicating the ports onto the rear.....to clean things up.
i've also got a 1/2 inch spacer & edelbrock elite "tall" covers...
hoping that all will have clearance? like yourself are fitting a hood scoop, looking at "cowl induction" type at the minute......
in my haste i got alot of stuff when i got the car thinking a "302" product fit's all model's thanks to the bloke's on the site are getting a clue on what works. |

Am only using 2 of the ports at the front of the manifold. I also have a T peice at the rear for the brakes and the PCV. The 3rd port is from the side of the TB neck and goes to the fuel reg. When the rails turn up i will assemble it and post pics if that helps

Well my rails came in, and off to earls for some fittings.
Attached is some more pics of the Rail and associated plumbing for the reg. The NOS was also hooked up, but hasn't been mounted or wired yet.
Enjoy |
