well done timmeh !
will look at a close sort of setup myself.
"it's funny how my plan's have changed over 6 month's.....i think oil price is a big factor in that."
mine being a daily driver your sort of power output is all i need. |

Once again, well done Timmeh. It's good to see that YOU have got such good results out of YOUR combo for such good money. And you manage to do it very humbly... |

steveurban mine is a daily driver too at least until the end of the year which is why I think its a good power rating. The wife will have to occasionally drive it so it can't be neck snapping power.
T2TE50 I haven't seen your dyno graph I've just checked your engine thread and its not in there. Can you post it up in your thread so we can compare.
Scaffy I try not to pretend I know something that I don't especially when in the company of you, Jeff, Schnoods, XR9UTE, TerroristGHIA etc. I look like a fool if I did. It has been a learning experience for me and now when someone wants a mild combo without massive expense I can point them to my thread and answer questions in my league. Thanks for the compliment.
Another question I have is on my other graphs my peak torque at the flywheel is 4250rpm and the peak tractive effort at 4250rpm, is this when I should be changing gears at the drags? |

No definately not.
Gear changes should be done at peak power, in your case 5250rpm. Peak torque (4250rpm) is where you should be launching at or thereabouts. I'd be looking at launching at 4000rpm and slipping the clutch to get a nice 60ft time.
Hopefully when changing to the next gear revs will drop into the peak torque zone.

260rwhp is a nice result. Seems about spot on as Davo's AU 220 that your heads and cam came off made 250rwhp with exhaust, extractors, CAI and K&N filter and 10.5:1 AFR's. So with a good tune Simon was certain he could get another 10-20rwhp out of it with taking some fuel out of it.
Peak power at 5250rpm seems about right also.
Have you got the graph with the torque you can post up?
I bet its going to feel alot smoother now, You might have to pop in some time, or visa versa, so i can check it out.
Now dont be shy and get yaself ready for September to get the last set of numbers you need.
Jeff |
320nm @ 2000rpm (90hp)
367nm @ 3000rpm (155hp)
386nm @ 3500rpm (190hp)
410nm @ 4000rpm (230hp)
395nm @ 4500rpm (250hp)
370nm @ 5000rpm (260hp)
These are rough figures taken using: torque = (HP*5252) / RPM and the dyno graph.
Then i converted the lb-ft to nm using this |

Can you do this one for a comparison?

337nm @ 2000rpm (95hp)
394nm @ 2700rpm (150hp) - I was curious
427nm @ 3000rpm (180hp)
447nm @ 3500rpm (220hp)
452nm @ 4000rpm (255hp)
458nm @ 4500rpm (290hp)
447nm @ 5000rpm (315hp)
Also, 330lb-ft = 447nm. Very nice man |

Cheers Haggis, some interesting figures there.
I take it they are rear-wheel torque figures?
Timmeh, its certainly a nice fat torque curve you've got there, i'd definately be looking at launching between 3500-4500rpm in September down the 'Plex.

To be honest i don't know mate i can only make the assumption that it is, i just knew that if you have 2 of the 3 (hp, torque and rpm) you can work the other one out. Does using a gear other than 1:1, or changing the diff ratio change the hp reading on a dyno? I am curious to know why the numbers i came up with a different than that on Timmehs print out. |

Yeah they'd be rear wheel torque, cause you've calculated off rwhp.
So a bit more at the flywheel.
Real rough calc is to add 22%.
So Jeffs 458 would be 558nm, and Timmehs 410 would be 500nm.
I'd say those figures are pretty realistic IMO. |

After giving a go today I was rolling along in 1st gear doing about 20kph then I planted my foot and I got massive wheel spin.
Didn't try it in second cause the driveway isn't that long.
Can't believe I got wheelspin without using the clutch.
Awesomeness. |
