| Might be selling the upper. I've decided to port the explorer manifold completely which will then outflow the GT40. |

| I think the GT40 upper flows about 5 -10% more with both of them stock. |

| Timmeh nice build. That GT40 upper looks sweet. You're right though, after modding the explorer upper it will outflow the GT40. They're still hot to look at though. Look forward to your results when it is tuned. It should pull alright when you are finished. |

Im interested in the upper if you decide to sell. I've been looking at bringing one in from the States, so would be nice to pick one up a bit more local...could also do a part trade with cash + Explorer upper if you needed. |

Timmeh, i think you'd be better off without porting the Explorer. For your engine combo i cant see there being any worthwhile gains in porting it. The std Explorer or std GT-40 will flow plenty enought for that mild combo. I just think the money that you'll fork out to have the Explorer ported properly would be better spent elsewhwere.
Also regarding the clutch fork cover. Just give us a buzz or a text and come round. I've got two sitting here. I dont even have one on the ute . |

Port the lower half of the manifold Timmeh, you'll be suprised how much you can get out of it. Not so much power but a hell of alot more torque.
Remember your trying to give the intake charge the most direct/shortest root to the cylinder. |

| Yeah I've heard or read that runners 1 and 5 need the most work as they flow 15% less than the others. I'll try and get them all the same so all the cylinders are equal. |

Got the Tickford throttle body today. Man its a nice looking unit. Yes its a little big but its bling. Also there in the picture is the ELGT MAF and the 24lb injectors.
Anyone know what that threaded hole in the intake of the TB is for on an AU? I think I have to blank that. Also the vacuum line for the EGR spacer which will no longer be used.

| The porthole you are talkin about, that wouldnt be for the ACT sensor would it? I know the HO manifolds had em in the lower intake. AU has em mounted on the induction pipe apparently. |

| AHH ha mount it further forward in the intake assy and it registers cooler air. Another trick Ford used to get more power on the AU's I guess? |

Not really. It all helps with load calculations and AFRs. ACT measures air density via temperature and adjusts fuel amount accordingly. Apparently the ECU has a correction value to help compensate any possible change in air temp between sensor location and manifold. The closer to the manifold the better in my view. Tricking it to thinking it has colder intake charge will just make it run richer I guess. I dunno if ECU uses the engine temp sensor to determine compensation factor or not. The closer to the manifold the better in my view. Currently mine is mounted in the induction pipe just before the TB.
Thats my understanding of the way the system works anyhow, someone more cluey may wish to confirm/correct me here. |

| No no no, the threaded hole you see in the front is for the breather to your rocker cover filler spout. Go to pirtek and get the appropriate barb fitting to go in there, i know they have them as i got one for mine. |

| the threaded hole in the throttle connects to the small breather pipe that runs from your drivers side rocker cover, just below the filler hole |

| No I mean a breather tank... Rather than sucking all those nice oil fumes into your intake manifold. |
