here we have a quick size comparison from t5 to r154, note the lesser helical angle of the toyota gears... and the increase in gear width

btw, the toyota parts were obviously returned from the cryotreating

update: my custom first gear thrust washer is currently in Tasmania being made... being made from EN36A and being case hardened.. should be indestructible. NOTE: none of the popular aussie cnc/machining/heat treating shops wanted to help me out, so stuff them, it was outsourced to TAS

ive had the flywheel machined aswell, fitted a new rocker cover gasket...

also, a small bit of useless info i may aswell post, i checked my plug gaps last nite, cos' i wasnt sure what i set them at.. they are set at .035"

.89mm, i dont beleive they need to be that small, thats just what i did when i was chasing a breaking down issue early in the piece, turned out to be s**t 10mm top guns. I considered making them back to 1-1.1mm, but ill wait til its going again.

aim is to have it on the road first week of may...

once the thrust washer is upgraded then the 2 boxes arent too far apart strength wise, there is some 600rwhp supras with the r154

so i went with a custom thrust and also the cryo treating for improved strength...

hey fpv_gtp, i didnt try holinger, probably about the only 1 i didnt, time was running out and the outlook was bleak.. i didnt have 3 months to track down someone, when the place in tassie gave a positive response, and said no problems, we will make it from blah blah blah i had to use them, and i am VERY impressed with how efficient they have been.

i even emailed about 10 places in the states about it, got about 3 replies, one would do it but needed more info. time was up, and i made the choice to go where i did

heres the current state of development, things have been slow on my project, cos' too many other things have been BUSY, busy building dirt bike engines and gearboxes, mates cars etc... on top of all that, i have got a new job, im now working at Supaloc Racing based in adelaide, that means im moving away, and will have extremely limited time available for my car....

obviously the square plate will be cut down to the shape of the front of the box...

spoke to hardy spicer last week, got the details of what measurements they needed for making my custom shaft... had a quick trip home on the weekend, measured it up, and will hopefully be able to have the new unit made within the next couple of weeks..
