---Allowing 2-3mm gap to clear the window the following is a guide to the max mounting depth allowable
Depth @ top of hole 60mm
Depth @ centre of hole 70mm
Depth @ bottom of hole 72mm

If you use a 12mm MDF spacer ring then the maximum depth in hole centre is 92mm-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys, just out of curiosity am i hopless at maths or does 70mm plus a 12mm spacer equal 82mm not 92 as stated icon_question.gif icon_confused.gif (spewing cos my orion xtr6 cs measure 85mm deep icon_cry.gif DOH)
Apart from that absolutely awesome job, makes it so much easier for us ppl just starting to get our stereos happening. Thanks heaps.

If the factory wiring hasn't been tampered with, you could possibly get the iso adapter plugs to siut your head unit from autobarn or some where like that. That way you wouldn't have to chop wires icon_biggrin.gif

bump... this is an awesome thread but it would be really helpful to see the missing pics! If you do use the 12mm spacers, do you have clearance problems with the inside of the door trim?

No thats why 12mm is the way to go, any larger and you do have issues.

I offered the pics to be hosted by fordmods they said they'd get around to it.

I'm using speaker wire to power the sub instead of 12 or 10 gauge. How much improvement would I get if I switched to 12 gauge? thanks

10 and 12 gauge are spealker wire, gauge simply refers to their thickness.

Do you mean from the amp to the sub? how much power are you delivering to the sub?
what length is the cable run?

Any reasonable speaker cable will be fine for an amp of that power.
