Ok guys, I just brought a Belkin video capture device. Its hooked up to a vcr and via USB2 to my puter. Now the software provided saves the video as a wmv file. But I want to burn it to DVD that I can play on my household DVD. Trouble is the DVD player doesn't seem to recognize WMV, Okay thats probably obvious to some of you guys, but how do I get nero or another program to convert it to some sort format that the DVD player will recognize?

And before you say why bother, I have about 300 to 400 porn vids that I wish to put to DVD then I'll sell off the collection of vids.

u might be able to run the capture device as a DV input to a differnet video capture program in much the same way a Digital Video camera records, and then save the incoming video as a mpg file

Sorry I should be more specific, it saves to the hard drive as a WMV but when you "produce" the movie, this is one of the steps the software takes, you can save it as mpeg or avi but wether its mpeg, avi or WNV dont seem to play on DVD.

Are you saying that mpeg should play on dvd?

you have to convert the video to either DVD format.

Download TMPGEnc at the foolowing site:
www.tmpgenc.net

install run the program. the wizard comes up and just pick DVD (PAL)

click next

click browse and double click the video file you want to encode

click next

then click next agin

choose the output destination and you guessed it, click next

wait for it to finish encoding.

once this is done burn the movie file with nero using the create DVD option

wait for the finished product and by now you should be able to play on a dvd player

cheers

Thanks Nana, that sounds brilliant, once I can get passed the memory error issue I'll give this a whirl.

I have a cheapie DVD player and yes it plays mpeg4, but the output of the program is mpeg2.

By the way once this epic task is completed the entire collection of european videos will be up for sale, the bulk of them are the Private brand.

..have you ever thought of a DVD recorder?? Looks like a DVD player, but it has a input, and just like a VHS you press record, and it records it. So you just plug Your VCR into this DVD recorder, and away you go.. Im sure you can fit more than one vid on to a DVD.

Cheers

Yes mate did think of the DVD recorder.

Cost.

But I may have to revisit the idea.
