i just got my car back from getting my new car alarm fitted, but alas no more remote boot release, there is an output on the alarm for it, my question is- the switch on my dash to open the boot from inside the car, that activates a relay doesnt it? if so, can i just get the boot release output wire, and tap it into the + side of the relay so the alarm activates the relay and opens my boot just like the switch inside the car? (and add a diode to protect the alarm when i press the boot release button).

also does the horn use a relay? (there is a third output) a remote horn could be fun

Yeah the horn uses a relay, that'd be easier to hook up than the boot release I think.

The boot release switch, is just that a switch, that connects a pin on the BCM to ground. Which is why the boot release doesn't work unless the key has been in at least the ACC position recently.

Me thinks we'd have to find which pin on the BCM connects to the boot solenoid, and trigger that directly. Cause hooking up to the switch won't work all of the time.

(I have the same problem, so if I find a solution, I'll be posting here)

edit: Pin A20 on the BCM is the boot release trigger - just what we need. 12V pulse is needed, so should be good for your alarm output. Just need to splice that in.

edit2: although this page contradicts (says 12 yellow wire is the pin): http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/documents.php?doc=47

ok, so the horn is settled, i have to use a relay to trigger the boot with the alarm, its output can only supply 200Ma, and i will try to trace the boot release button to the ecu on the EA im wrecking (i know its not the same pinout as my ED but it should at least give me the wire colour)

You're just triggering a solenoid, so 200mA should be fine, My alarm has a 500mA NEGATIVE output, the boot release needs a positive triggern, so I need to add a relay to get it working icon_sad.gif.

yeh mine has a negative output as well, although the manual says the alarm can be setup (jumpered) to be + or - output so ill have to investigate, where will the alarm module most likely located?

Mine is located conveniently next to the BEM.

As this is where most of the wires need to be hooked up to, I'd says your's would be similarly located.
