high end pioneer and apline stuff is good
otherwise try focal or bostons
you can get boston pros online from the states for like $450-500 shipped, as opposed to the $900 or so you pay for them here! |

Pioneer Bullets are great! $285! 220W, 60W RMS. And you can go one step further and get Pioneer Pro Series Splits.
Otherwise, PG make some pretty good stuff. |

You pay peanuts, you get monkeys...
Spend a bit of money and you'll be stoked with results. However many top-end speakers create better sound but aren't as efficient meaning that you may need an amp to run them or your deck will distort.
I'm running the pro range pioneer splits retail for $550 and they sound f**k awesome. They've won the best splits award for the last 2 years.
Model number:
TS-C160R
here's a pic:
and them installed:

ive got a friend who has some of those he bought like a year ago and has never used and wants to sell em ...
maybe its time to upgrade those poor sonys of mine. |

It's only depth you have to worry about Iand I measured that you can fit a magnet max 70mm deep IIRC. That is why I created that thread for ages ago, but now goone. |

Yeah also another point i want to make is that im looking for splits that will fit straight into the holes of the stock speakers (6') so yeah i like the stealth look.
That will determin mostly on what i choose to buy, if they sound good but cost lots and do fit, then im prolly going to get them rather than something thats cheaper sounds rasonable and wont fit. (probally goes without saying really) LOL. |

I'm running infinity splits in the front of my XR6 in the stock speaker holes, and i'm really happy with the sound clarity and volume they produce. Bass could be a little lacking but overall, i'm happy with the sound at the price. $250 for the pair of 6" splits
Just got Alpine Type S 6.5" splits for my gf's 300zx, haven't put them in yet, but when we heard them on the board they put out an impressive sound also for $250. The bass that came from these speakers was quite suprising! |

Yeah, they went straight in, i did it myself.
Get them off your friend!
The tweeters I put in too but I just drilled into that cover above the door and rand the cable through that and then glued it on. I reckon it looks good. |

mmm i reckon if you put the tweeters in the factory holes it tends to make the system very tweeter heavy.
the tweeters start to overbear the woofers. |

Mmm true but ive got the dash mat!! I cant even hear the stock tweeters ne way LOL. Im looking for midbass rather than treble as that is what my system seriously lacks atm.
I have sub bass, and treble a-pleanty, but mid-bass lacks quite a bit
The sub pretty much over powers the rears, so if i can get a decent pair of splits with pleanty of mid-bass then i have done it right. |

Off-topic for a second, how much did the GreenStuff pads cost?
I highly reccomend Car Toys, i've spent a couple grand in there, excellent guys, and they do excellent installation jobs. Like you've said before, their range of DLS is pretty good too, and some of their splits are fairly cheap. |

I mean its about 70-80km drive give or take.. pretty annoying really. |
