Simple, it will spin if you got narrow or s**t tyres on it!
If you got good tread or fat rubber you will have much harder time getting a chirp let alone a line - when i got my fbt the tyres on it were s**t, left I I lines almost everytime, now with new good tyres, im lucky to get a chirp unless on some smooth bit of road or its wet..
LSD isnt about leaving lines tho, its much more efficient of getting power o the ground, which is NOT what you want if you wish to leave black lines behind ya..
Simple. |

With 161kw my EBII XR6 Auto I had in '98 would spin on dry bitumen. It had a LSD as well.
It was a quick car, but just produced no torque off idle. It would do a brake burnout, but unless you used a brakes to load up the converter, it had nothing. I would suggest your EL would be in the same boat with not too much torque but good top end power!
Both my manual XR6's would light up the back tyres with about 2-2500rpm and a dropped clutch, but then as Hornet said, a VL Crummydore will do the same.
My old man's EB Fairmont Ghia V8 would spin the back tyres off the line but only for a moment before getting traction again. Just enough to walk a bit sideways before taking off!
Manuals are just so much more fun when you want to get up it!
Now I have a manual XR8, got the best of both worlds. |

not sure if i have lsd or not yet as both spin quite often he he and its alllll kinds of sideways in the wet around corners even at 20kmhr... good tyres too
i have 215's on mine and i can spin them but i have cam work done to give it torque down low (apparently) around a corner its very very sideways with any power... just wish it was lower... |

Cheers, The poor EL really cops it at the drags, but thats probably why i'm usually always in the semi finals at least.. *looks at runner up certificate*
Here is a movie of the poor EL with a single spinner diff, lighting up both rear tyres with a std diff ratio of 3.25. (3.45 would spin easier)

Yeah my EB2 Ghia with 3.27? LSD won't spin off the line, do a U turn and no worries, or drop from 2nd back to 1st on a corner. No probs in the wet but thats scary, I have 235 rubber. So I'd say no to an auto with the 3.45. If ya have a LSD at least it will save your tyres |

tyres power and gearing.
My el when stock and running 205's, if provoked off the line (stall to 1500) would leave twin black marks (Open 3.23 centre). Now with 235/17's it needs a 2000rpm stall to leave marks from stand still. In any case if the ground is wet, then its tail happy for as long as you have your foot down.
At no stage did it ever have problems laying 2nd gear patches if provoked on private pavements.

Maybe if i put 175s it might. |

my car lights the tyre (occasionaly tyres) up with ease from a standstill, stalled up or round a corner, they were 255's. i have 205 stockers on the back now, and my god they are fun. i usually stall my car to 2000rpm in a race and let if off with no wheelspin at all, with the stockers the car just sits on the spot and smokes with no brakes at all. |

i had a hard michelin 255 tyre, and it would smoke second gear in the dry.
I have cheapy sava intensa 235 tyres under it now, and it won't chirp second (not bad for cheap tyre i reckon).
My car is manual btw. |
