Dunlop SP3000's if you got a bit of a cash up your sleeve.
Lotsa grip, wet or dry.
Simex 8000 as a cheaper option, but still very good.
Can't remember price for either of the top of my head (spend so much money I lose track, perhaps?).
Both in 225/50 R16

As Steady said... SP3000's are good if you got the cash.

Simex are good for their $$$. But a set of Kumho 712's in that size are better again, for only a small amount more than the Simex.

Yokohama's are also a great tyre particularly in the wet :P

Depends largely on what you want them for, do you want long-lasting or super-sticky or somewhere in between?

Personally I like Yokohama A539s or Bridgestone Potenza G3s - neither are a particularly expensive tyre, but if you want something super-sticky a Falken Azenis RT615 (I think its 615) is a damn good tyre, but wont last that long, and when they're worn, they're TERRIBLE in the wet.

But they're a good track tyre that you can drive home on.
