I have searched and searched, Can't find and good resources on where to get a 3.45:1 LSD from? What models came out with this? Any of the utes? Is it easier to buy new gears and install to my current centre housing?

I currently have a 3.08:1 and have been looking round and found a few 3.23:1, would that be a sufficient upgrade for:
- EB II Fairmont 4.0L
- Headers, 2.5" Redback Exhaust
- Cold Air Intake w/Pod filter
- T5 Manual 5speed
- Twin Thermo Fans
- Mild Performance Camshaft

Cheers, Tim.

3.23:1 with a EB2+ T5 is the best combo in my opinion.

I've had 3.45, 3.23 and driven with 3.7's 3.23 was the win for me.

@ Krytox, Can I ask why? did you find that top end driving was uneconomical? Or were the gears too short to get some mid to high end power?

Thanks for the feedback, I could get a 3.23 cheaper than a 3.45 more then likely.

Cheers, Tim.

I presume you are talking about a sedan?

In the EB-ED models only the XR6 had the 3.45 LSD diff. Some ED Futura models were optioned with a 3.23 LSD, and the Fairmont Ghia models also had the 3.23 LSD.

It is not too hard to source and fit a diff from an EF11 or EL XR6 or Fairmont Ghia which all had the 3.45 LSD along with the ticky engines.

In my wagon I have an EA T5, which has lower ratios in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th when compared with the EB11 onwards T5, matched to 3.27 LSD. This has a similar final drive as the later T5 and 3.45 equipped cars.

At 100kph it sits on 2250rpm, but doesn't use more fuel on the open road.

Cheers
BenJ

Yeah im talking about sedan.

I also sourced an EA T5 and I knew about the lower gears but didn't stop to think about how it will affect my final drive at wheels with a 3.45 LS Diff.

Anybody think that 3.45 is too high for the EA T5? I don't want it to chew through too much fuel but would like some quick acceleration.

EFII and EL (XR6 and Fairmont Ghia ONLY) got 3.45 LSD, Thanks for that mate.

Cheers, Tim.

IMO yes, it will not be fun.

In first gear you will only be able to pull 56kph at 5500rpm and 2nd will max at 92kph. 1st gear almost becomes useless.

110kays will have you revving at 2400prm.

In the end it is up to you.

Cheers
