um? ok i have a EA box etc, went through the first clutch in a week. so put a 6 bolt flywheel in, cost 60 bucks for the flywheel from a wrecker, went right on. been great ever since.

I drilled & tapped my EA f/wheel to take the 6 bolt pressure plate. Its all good, been in there for about 4 yrs now, no probs.

Exactly what we did....
Its survived a few burnout comps too.

This is all a bit of a f**k. when i get back to townsville (in cairns atm) i'll have to double check and make sure the box is what it is supposed to be as well. :x anyone got any hints on testing the gearbox is what is it supposed to be? I'm thinking test 1st gear. EA box = 3.5:1 EB2> = 3.25:1. Is that correct?

Any help on this one is appreciated

Thanks,
Nic

An easy way to tell an EA box is to look at the casting dates on the lid. It will have like 87, 88, 89, 90, 91 on the casting date. Mine has 88, being a 4/88 build date EA car.

Another easy way to tell a pre/post EBII box is to look for the 'roofing nail' - see http://www.fordmods.com/forums/external ... 38250.html for explanation and details - handy if the box is still in a car.

i spose now is a good time to update this thread. :lol:

i ended up buying a 3 bolt clutch and using that in there, just used the fly wheel as is. If i had have done anything else, i proly would have looked more seriously into drilling and tapping the flywheel. wreckers up here tend to be short on parts like a flywheel.

with the box, it is a late model one, it has the 3.25:1 first gear. I didnt look for the roofing nail, but i'm sure it will be there. :P

hi guys

Ive just boght an ea box as mine ef box is shagged just a little.....

So basically use my flywheel from the ef box in the ea and get a clutch kit to suit ef/el again instead of ea right as that clutch kit only suits the 3 bolt flywheel.

It depends on what grade bolts you have. Usually about 90-100nm from memory.

Ok;
Flywheel to crank shaft = 100nm
Pressure plate to flywheel = 27nm
