Hey guys im changing the diff ratio in my ef to 3.7.1 to give it a bit more stick of the line, the car is a 1996 EF automatic, just wanted to know if i do this will i kill anything? eg gearbox etc, would it be ok to change the ratio in the stock diff or should i get a lsd? ive talked to various mechanics and they all said that they can change the stock diff gears to 3.7.1 if this is true then i would really like to go ahead and do it, but im just not sure as i dont know much diffs and such.

No idea on what RPM the EF will be doing at 100 km per hour with 3.7's. I am guessing 2200?

With regards to your diff Molloy, 3.7's are the way to go, there will be a bit more punch of the line. You wont brake anything, but these are the things you need to consider:

1. Speado and Odo to read incorrectly (eg. lowering the diff ratio by 10% means 10% speado error)

2. Will rev slightly harder at any given speed. Therefore max speed is lowered.

Do some research on diff changes, but 3.7 gear ratios are a good mod. You will want an LSD to control rear end traction also.
