This is a dead serious question as i was on ford.com.au yesterday, and saw the ratios for the 6speed auto fitted to the ghia (and others). Over 4:1 for the 1st gear!!!

The question is, can a 6 speed auto go in to my EL ghia sedan?

As my auto is on the way out, and i dont want a manual.

If it does fit, whats the chances of the EL ECU controlling the gearbox? I would guess that it can't, so what aftermarket computer would suit?

What price am i looking at for a 6 speed auto with all the stuff i need.
(box, flexplate, mounts, ECU, etc....)

Thanks

ok yes it COULD FIT

BUT the trans tunnel would need modifying
the belhousign would be different
no you auto ECU WILL NOT controll the 6 speed
you would need the Ecu from the donor car

you want a 6 speed
by a BF

Apparently the auto computer from the ZF 6 speed is in the ZF box itself.

and why buy a BF that takes away the fun of it. and then your just another person with a car like everyone else.

there is a thread on XR6turbo.com forums where a dude bolted one into a BA and it was a s**t hard task. The PCM has to talk to the ZF TCM and it has to be the same model (ie same software revision) or it wont work

until someone either makes a standalone module for the ZF to run OR you know how to bolt in the ZF dash, engine, body harnesses etc. good luck

its an electronically controlled box, you cant run it manualised.

it cost the bugger 5k to do it, thats including selling his strengthened BA spec BTR box

got 10k?
