Anyone know of any mop who sells shorter first gear ratio & performance transpak for the auto 4-speed?

Is it possible to change the gears like the older c4's or c6 autos.

I'm sure some engineer out there could see the $$$ sign in it. there's hundreds of thousand of BTR auto's out in need of attention with aftermarket gears. :?

get off your f**k a** & start plotting the CAD.

Capa do an 'Auto Trans Improvement Kit' for 'Ford V8-6cyl, ED-EL' (http://capa.com.au/capa_performance_trans.htm), $393.80, not sure what it entails but...

I HIGHLY doubt the $$$ are there for someone to make. Its not like you can just make up a new gear cog and stick it in there, its a big task to change the gear ratios in an automatic gearbox. The you have the problem that the auto trans computer wont know what is going on and there are no aftermarket alternatives.

Its so much cheaper and easier just to throw in a new set of diff gears to fix the 1st ratio up (or even fit an TH700).

^^But...would a TH700 mount behind a i6 falcon with current ECU?
an flush or custom edit would fix that.
wouldn't want to effect the final drive with a 3.7 or 4.11 diff center.

it would be worth it if you could change 1st & second but maintain 3rd & forth for economy.

there was a guy who posted a BTR performance auto exchange business on here this morning, but it seems the MOD deleted his attempts on free advertising. should of crapped his mobile number this morning $1000 exchange

What is a TH700?
Someone said they make bellhousings to fit I think it wasa C4 behind our I6's now.

TURBO hydromatic 700. GM auto box, they got one of the best 2rd gears.

I think with the C4, it would be a complete aftermarket engine management to run it on the i6.

Nope, C4 is an older hydraulic box, you could run it with the standard computer (with some trickery)

I know, cause the wiring from the i6 factory ECU would be of no use to the C4.
I used to own a tricked C4 behind a 351c corty before.

If you fit a TH700/C4 just use a manual ECU or the resistor trick on an auto ecu.

You can get a bellhousing to suit any common gearbox

kit to put a TH700 behind an I6 retails for ~$1000

:P i like the sound of the TH700-R4, at least it has overdrive.

Has anyone here actually driven a car fitted with a TH700 for big drive, not just the seat of the pants drive for a day around a city etc, the ratios are f**k, yeah first and second is heaps lower than a BTR auto, but the gap between 2nd and 3rd is scary.

Drive one on the hwy for a long time and see what I mean, my old work supplied me with a VTII V6 wagon for a work car, it was like new before I got to it  , around town first and second is good, but when you have ratios that make it kick back to 2nd at around 100kmh because it has no real balls it scared the f**k out of me each time trying to overtake someone and the speed didnt increase, many a time I would just pull back in because of this.
Maybe with the 4.0L have more torque and the fact you would need a aftermarket controler for the TH700 (unless it was the older VN/VP auto) you might be able to control the auto from kicking back at stupid speeds.

Anyone thought of doing a ZF 6 speed auto conversion yet?
