I have a proper ford manual, but its ea-ed. the ef/el haynes manual has nothing in it.. and the wires in that auto to manual guide are different too.. the colours i have are as follows

Silver/white - Pink/green - Red - Orange/white - Pink/orange - Pink - Green/violet - Blue - Yellow - Yellow/green - Green

I've already isolated the reverse and neutral switches too.. so its out of those coloured wires listed.. any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Read Voxace's guide in the first post of this thread.

Hope that helps.

Have you read Troyman's writeup?

Sorry, I think we've misunderstood what you're doing. You doing this conversion on an EL Falcon or an EA-ED?

You've cut off the entire ECU plug?

From what I've read, only a few wires need to be cut/spliced at the ECU.

nah i was wanting to do it at the gearbox end... already cut the plug of that end coz the car did have a chip and big cam in it.. but as i need it drivable now i had to put the stock cam back in and take out the chip. thou the car is still manual. yes this is in a el, fairmont if it makes any difference.. didn't really want to muck with the wires out of the ecu if can be helped!

I found this thread which refers to the coloured wires you've mentioned.

An EF or EL wiring diagram will not help you. I have the genuine Ford workshop manuals for EF and EL vehicles (all 3 volumes) and the colours for both EF and EL match the colours in Voxaces guide.
The thread I linked previously I'm pretty certain is the EA to EB 3 speed automatic colours. So perhaps you have EBII to ED wiring?

Well I guess your just lucky then that you've got wiring colours different to almost every other EL - Voxaces guide is correct for EF and EL wiring (I have confirmed this with the EL wiring I had in a box, the genuine Ford workshop manusl, Gregories, Haynes and MaxEllery manuals). Perhaps your looking at the wrong wires or alternatively at some point in the 13 years the car has been around for someone, besides Ford when they made the vehicle originally, has changed something, such as perhaps a previous owner replaced the gearbox?
Either way, doesn't make a difference now as those are the wires you have. Good luck.
