The BA XR8's had a Tremec TR3650.....way different box to a T5.....and the TR's don't have a hole in them for a speedo drive either.....and they are waaaaaay longer too.

Thanks cjh. The guy sold the AU XR8 with funny second gear for $2,500 but not to me. Think it was gonna cost $500 to fix so wasn't concerned as I found a few more problems with the car. A mate is wrecking a phantom BA XR6T 5 speed and thought easier to swap boxes but I have no clue with this new stuff. Back in my hey day, the late 1980's we used to grab top loaders from 6 cyl cortinas and slap them onto 351 and the same with the single rails but the extension housing was shorter.
Anyway got the s**t with the cheap V8 thing and bought a 2005 BA2 XR6T 6 speed manual but have a soft clunk in low gears at low revs. Sounds like the spare wheel moving round at low speed. Might be diff bushes already or tailshaft centre bearing. Didn't think the RWC was dodgy :(
