im looking at putting a set of 4.11 diff gears into my series 2 ba sedan. ive found a set to buy, but im wondering what the usual going rate on them is? and what is involved in installing them? should i get a mechanic to do it for and whats that likely to cost? i know ill get a better take off and quicker accelaration, but what else will these do for me? sorry to ask so many questions, but most of my mods have been fairly light on compared to this so far, so want to check everything ut before commiting to it. cheers for any help.

Definately need to be fitted by a pro.
Yes much harder launch
slightly improved economy around town
slightly worse on the highway around 1L per 100
you will enjoy so much more pull in every gear
probably around 150-200 mark

i recently had gears supplied and fitted for $380 but i took the diff into his workshop bare with just the centre.. i did the rest of putting it back together..

You can fit it yourself if you're handy with some tools.. if you're not confident, maybe pay someone else to do it.

as was said, It will make the car more lively. You'll love it, your tyres wont.. If you don't do alot of freeway k's you shouldn't notice too much of an increase in consumption..

I have a diff housing here that I've considered doing the same for the XT, but I don't drive it.. so I'd rather spend the money on the Bedford or Firebird..

Personally I'd rather do it myself, but thats just me..
I have the manual if you need it.. you can download it from pdftown..
