Hi all just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of a BA IRS being put into a Leaf rear Falcon. Why you ask? Traction at 160 MPH on Salt is the reason. Could get about hairy with a leaf rear and 500HP.
Regards TPVM.

There is a build on AFF of a Coupe that has the BA IRS in it.

Wouldnt you do better with a four link and a watts linkage set up? I mean IRS is good for keeping the tyres planted when cornering, but you would be trying to avoid that, you'd want the maximum tyre contact wouldnt you, not leaning the tyres in a few degrees and reducing your contact patch.

Although the big white dyno is a bit of a black art....

4 Link may be a better option. IRS was just a thought. It,s all a bit suck it and see. Thanks for the coupe info Regards TPVM.

I would have thought an AU IRS would be a better choice, considering it is designed to simply bolt in the place of a live axle 4 link setup. If the rear ends are similar, it might be as simple as drilling a couple of holes and adding 2 pins.

BA's got the control link because it was cheaper and lighter to produce than the AU IRS. But it's not better.

Plus the hub face offsets will be the same.

The reason I was looking at FG is the diff ratio they run [2.73] over the AU of 3.08. I need tall gears for the intended purpose. Regards TPVM.

My understanding is the AU diff centre is basically an E-series/AU centre with the axle tubes cut off.

You could probably just swap the gears from something older in there. EA 2.77's or 2.92's to get what you are after. Just an alternative idea.

That's right Adrian. It is a BW78 missing the axle tubes and Watts link mount.

They changed the height of the pinion in EF. Early Crown wheels & pinions do not fit into EF on,[wish they did I have a 2.55 gear set out of an XE]. I like your thinking though, if it where a coil rear end I would agree but the BA'S mounts look easier to fit to a leaf rear end. Have Mig will FIX
