HI all,

I have had a few inquiries about the BA shifter I installed into my EA, for those interested here are the costs, I am also happy to answer questions.

BA Shifter - $300 (New from Ford)
BA Shifter Cable - $70 (New from Ford)
Electronics - $200 (Via me, includes SS module and gear select display)

Brackets need to be made by you.

Regards,
Jason

sounds very inviting, does the sequential bit work? id assume thats why u installed it?

what are the dimensions of the shifter? would it fit in the ef/el's?

Yes it will fit in any e-series, yes SS works, the whole reason for fitting it.

The main thing is has been fittted and tested on seperate trans computer only, not on integerated Trans/ECU as yet, but there is no reason for it not to work, just some investigation as to what wires to tap into would be needed. The SS module does not replace the trans ECU but is wired in parallel and feeds the correct signals to the Trans computer as to what gear to go into when in SS mode.

Did you build the electronics module like I had discussed some time ago. EG a frequency generator for the VSS and a voltage selector for the TPS ?????

If it is your design are you prepared to share the design ??? I could design it myself, I just don't have time. I would like to do it on the steering wheel, not with the shifter.

You only have simulate the volatage from the SS part of the BA shifter and you could add paddles/buttons to the steering wheel if you wish, so $200 gets the electronics the rest is your imagination.

The design uses PIC programmed chips for the logic, so even I gave you the PC board design and parts required, with out a PIC programming tool and knowing what code to write, would be useless to you.

I have PIC programming hardware, MPLAB and all the stuff required for PIC programming. I am also conversant with assembly language. Do you have the source code or an assembled HEX file?????

I am interested more from an educational sense.

I have been testing/driving with this mod for around 6 months, and no signs of problems and still loving it, an EB V8 is currently fitting one FYI.

lol

When can one of these systems be seen/tested. I'd be interested in the electronics part, as I want 'paddles'.

With interest on the other forum, I am thinking a show and tell day will be in order, it will be in VIC, depends on interest as to when.

How hard is the actual kit to install?

I am ok with electronics side of things but I am not really competent with making the brackets.

Will you supply a template for this?
Am very interested as this sounds like an interesting mod to do while car is off the road (lost my licence  )
