Hi guys, I'm sure this qu has been asked before but i want to be sure on this - currently I have a 250 2V with single rail 4 speed in my XB and i've just purchased a ZH Marquis which I will be taking the 302 Clevo out of - several sites are saying that the bellhousing pattern is common between ford 250's, windsors and clevelands - anyone have firsthand knowledge of whether they fit up or if anything's different?

Second closely related query is flywheels - if the bellhousing is the same, are the flywheels?? what about clutches??

Please share your wisdom!!

No, mate the bellhousing/flywheel/clutch is different between V8 and 6cyl. I seem to remember the input shaft on the single rail being a different length as well, but I'm not 100% sure. The Cleveland and Windsor engines use the same bellhousings, etc, but you need to use the correct sandwich plate, as some flywheels are a different diameter. There may be a balance issue as well, so be careful.
If your car is a genuine 250 2V/4 speed car, leave it alone as they are getting hard to find now. Don't remember XB's having the 250 2V, but I may be mistaken. :D

Thanks for your reply - hmmm, think I might stay with the auto behind the v8 going in... and no, it didn't originally have the 2v , that was put in before I got it but it isn't the car's original eng no. - originally had a ordinary 250.
