hey guys.. i let my brother drive my car one night.. in the rain.. its an EL i6 and the guy i bought it off put a 9' diff in there.. and when he hit the curb im pretty sure he bent an axle on rear right hand side.. coz now my friends tell me its got a bit of wobble.. and the rotor is rubbing on the pads when i drive..

i was just wondering wat would b cheaper to get a second hand axle.. or to get a whole nu LSD in it.. any help would br appreciated..

An axle would be cheaper unless the diff has also been bent. He must have hit hard. Also the rim if steel could also be damaged.

take it (both?) to a diff place - they will be able to measure the run out on the axle and cold bend it back to dead straight - much cheaper than replacing with a new one!!

Find out how many splines it is.Then go from there,if possible go for a second hand one and also replace the wheel bearing. But if the diff has been shortened you will have to get a custom axle made up.If its been shortened dont get another axle shortened by cutting it and splined at the end. This will make the axle weaker. Thus the same as heating it to make it straight again will weaken it.

could also take it to a diff place and get them to spin it on a lathe,
even if its bent it'll most likely be at the hat end after the bearing,
many'o'times ppl machine the mating surface and slap the studs back in and around it goes again!.

ask the diff shop...it'll prolly cheaper to put a second hand btr stocky / lsd in rather than lugging around a damn 1950's 9"
