hi guys .
i have a ? .i was working on my xr6 .1996 auto .has no cruise control
just realised there is no switch .or whatever its called on the brake master cylider.
theres just a bolt in there.
my other xr6 1996 with cruise control has this switch ..what does this switch thing do ..?
has someone taken it off & blocked it .? should it b there ,should i replace it.
see pic .its the switch before the plug .
any help would b great .

if your brakes work. dont worry about it man. i could be wrong, but im guessing its a low fluid level light switch. though it looks like a pressure switch.

One EF/EL models there is two switches on the master cylinder...

One gives you the brake fail jewel on the cluster (basically says "hey you have no more fluid left") which you will notice you have no brakes before this thing even lights up...

The second is for cruise control like you though...

Its a back up to the switches on the brake pedal and clutch pedal... If you driving along and the switch on the pedal breaks off or fails this switch is the back up for it... (Safety Factor thing)... However one should note this switch will not be activated by gentle braking... so if you gently apply the brakes and cruise doesn't cancel (switch has broken on the pedal) jump on the pedal a bit quicker and harder (without causing an accident of course)...

Alternative ways of cancelling cruise are the coast button, or the off button...
