I can shift as 1-2-3-4-5, but if i try to go from 4th to 3rd i cant get the shifter accross...if i go from 4th to 2nd, then to 3rd its fine. Other than that, gearbox is fine...what im wondering is, is this a common problem, and if so, is it something that i could fix myself? I've built engines and diff's before but i've never had a gearbox apart, tho im keen to try

i have the same issue dosnt grind or any thing just wont go back into 3rd on a
down shift so im also keen to know if this can be fixed |

try a bit of double clutch action. t5's aren't highly refined european gearboxes. which is why most people phuk them out these days, my advice for people that flog out t5's is learn how to drive, THEN get a rebuild.
not you personally BlownNc for u i would suggest a selector bush also. it's not a common problem for well treated boxes though.

Agree with double clutching/shuffling - this will tell you if it's a synchro issue, although you'd think if it was it would happen on upshift as well.
Could be a selector thing, also the hub that selects 3rd and 4th gears. Only way you'll really know is to open the box and have a po beep.
