Hi all,
Just wanted to know if it was possible to put a diff centre from an NA fairlane diff ( 2.77 LSD) into an EF diff (3.23 Non-LSD) and keep the same gearing (3.23)?
Cheers Peter

nope.

NA = 25 spline and also a 75 series Diff.

EF - 28 spline and a 78 series.

Yes you can do what your asking, install a lsd hemisphere and retain your a***/spacers.

I've never come across any problems, as long as you keep the spaces to the correct side, However I'm not implying you'll have no probs, you may get a whine, overheating etc. I guess thats the chance you'll take! (rare) but I have to say it.

you could with a lot of mods, and a complete waste of time.

The EA diffs are not as good as a EF diff.
1: the splines are different.
2: the centers are single pins.
3: the rear brakes are different
4: the hand brake setup is completely different.
5: the lower mounts are different.
6: the pinion yolk is different. (i think)
7: weaker!
8: that ratio is a pig.

alot of EA-NA lsd's are 28 spline but i think the carrier up to 2.92 is a different offset to a 3.08 onwards so its probably wont work
the diff housing should be ok. i have an EA diff with and AU centre in my car
the 2 EA ghias i have had used 3.23 4 pinion LSD's standard.
sell your NA diff and buy a complete EF lsd from a wrecker

EA's were 25 spline axles. EBII were the start of 28 spline 4 pinion centres.
I have an EBII housing, EBII 3.27 gears, on my EA 25 spline LSD centre, with the EA axles, and spacers on the lower trailing arm mounts to keep using the EA lower arms.
The reason I went to the trouble is so I can drain my diff oil without pulling the cover plate off.

ring a diff place and they can tell you if they fit but
i was told my AU centre would not fit an EA diff but it did fine.
my EB1 had 28 spline diff, maybe it was EA1 with the 25spline and the EA2 had 28 spline for the LSD's
but i had EA axles with my AU diff before i fitted EL axles..work that one out!
i had my diff build by city ford rockdale.
