easiest option (and probably cheapest) would be to pick up a 2nd hand EF XR6 diff.

You will also need the speedo sendo too.

speedo sender***

$16 from ford i think

If the diff doesnt have to be LSD then it will be cheaper to pick up a set of 3.45 diff gears, (either XR gears or VL commodore gears) and put them in your diff

3.45 don't fit into 3.08 housings nicely, you really need to re shim the whole setup .. unless you know what your doing, not worth it, as above, buy a 3.45 LSD.

(altedxr6 under g/f account)

dont be a p***y, 3.45s are nearly enough...get some 3.70 or 3.89 or 4.11 from the R31 skylines/pinnys and whack them in an EA housing and chuck that under your car... i've done it! nice short gears...

hey so which gives better acceleration vs topspeed? a 3.08 or say a 4.11?

the diff on my ute say 4.##... (bad memory  ) but i neeeed better acceleration.
also how can you find out if the gearing inside the housing has been changed?

what are you hoping to get from the diff change 96_EFCaridinalRed?

jack up the rear of the car. turn the wheel once and see how many times the tail shaft turns. that the ratio. 3 turns of the tail shaft and one of the wheels. = 3:1 ratio.

4:11 would give better acc. but would hinder top end.
