Hey guys i just got a new tailshaft put into my car and eversince i picked it up it has had a clicking noise. (was not there before). mainly hear it around 60km i think, it is very faint. but if you open the door you can hear it clearer.
should i take it back to the shop and get them to fix it? (cause it was there fault)
any ideas on what it could be?
Also i want to make sure that they fitted the exact same one for my car as they are different than the stock falcons/fairmont. are there any ways to check it?

hopefully some people can help us out. cheers

To answer your 1st Q - if your not happy with the work and don;t think you can live with the noise which shouldn't be there in the 1st place, YES take it back.

Q 2, not too sure.

I'm assuming by 'New' you mean they've installed another 2nd hand tailshaft - if that's the case, perhaps they haven't bothered to change the uni's - one of the uni's may be worn or have dried out lubricant . . .

hey give the mechanic some credit, i would doubt they would fit a drive shaft with bad uni joints!! also the lubricant doesnt dry out it actually turns to a jelly. its made to withstand high temp.
Antway DVL is this something like the driveshaft your looking for, its a 3 1/4" alloy with and internal tuned damper and a slip yoke damper to absorb any crap from the trans in torque convertor lock up.

You would think not - but as mentioned, it's a 2nd hand shaft, and may have the 2nd hand joints installed, and they may have some wear - I'd rather check them (which isn't difficult), instead of ruling them out on an assumption . . . .

the fairlains is a longer shaft due to being a longer wheel base, think its about 150mm longer
