in my 97 el ghia in the wet when i brake i get a clunk noise i think from the brakes, cos when i hear that noise the brakes feel heaps different, its like they go really hard and the pedal doesnt shudder when i brake hard it just slows me down. but in the dry no clunks and if i brake hard i feel the abs kicking in and the brake shudders to not lock up? is the clunking noise in the wet normal????

sounds like you are getting water on the discs, hence the pedel feeling different.

if you brake nice and hard in the wet and get teh brakes warm.. then brake again is the clunk still thier?

yeha if i brake softly i hear the back clunk then if i brake a bit harder i hear the front clunk. its like it adjusts cos its so wet or something. then when i acclerate they booth clunk again untill i brake agian and it only does this in the wet?? and i have to brake really hard to slow down. could the abs sensor on the rotor be affected if its really wet with maybe dirt stuck to it aswell ro something?

sounds liek it could be worn bushes if it is from teh rear then the front....

the abs sensor will not make a clunk worst case is teh abs wont work if it is dirty

and yeah the abs still works tested it on dirt and the road. it works inhte wet to but ya just have to stand on them heaps hard could it be a fairmont ghia thing?
