Just wondering if there is any issues running a ea (3 bolt) clutches. Or should I buy a 6bolt clutch and modify my 3bolt flywheel?

Going to be doing a manual conversion in the next few weeks and not sure which way to go.

I like to drive hard so will probably get a HD one, but just wanted to see if the early 3bolt ones are ok.

Also if you guys think the 6bolt is the go, how do I modify my flywheel?

I think XG are 6 bolt. the differance is only about 5mm in friction plate and presure plate surface but 6 bolt is better.

I never had any drama with the 3 bolt clutch in my EA, it was driven hard and never slipped or anything. The same clutch is still going strong behind a Turbo EA, would be up around 40,000 kms on that clutch now, with LOTS of burnouts. 6 bolt is obviously going to be better but there's nothing wrong with using the 3 bolt one.

If its any help, the 6 bolt pressure plate clutches are 255mm, and the 3 bolt ones are 240mm

(As told to me by ford, my clutch plate was roughly 255mm and I did use an eb2 flywheel/clutch..........BUT the guy at Sinclair ford Penrith tried to sell me 8 flywheel bolts.........$16 each.......I brought the flywheel in as i'd just had it machined at western clutch........he saw the 6 holes.......and didnt know what to do...) got the right bolts in the end, and 6 of them :P

Not much of a difference, but it might help you reach a decision.
