I'm interested to hear if anyone has converted a BF Falcon XT automatic transmission to a manual transmission?

I love my XT falcon, and am gradually adding modifications to it to make it a bit more original - having a manual XT would be fantastic but I would prefer to know if anyone has attempted this and with what success? What exactly would I need to do this?

Any information would be awesome! Thanks guys!

im preety sure it has been done with success.
but i believe you have to change the computer to one from a manual xt. or maybe a xr6 would do it.

best bet would be to find a xr6 manual or xt manual as a donor car for all the bits.

i've read it's possible with a re-flash in bf's, not with ba's. I'm intrigued to see what you can dig up as there seems to be alot of the 'sell it and buy a manual' crowd around but not alot with useful info.

I guess the ecu crowd would be the best place to start as thats the biggest hurdle.

You need:
Gearbox (5 or 6 speed?)
Tailshaft from a manual
Clutch/Flywheel
New slave
Master cylinder + Fluid lines
BA/F Manual pedal
Time + Patience
Flash tuner to allow the Auto ECU to run, or a manual ECU and plenty of cash and patience at Ford.

Guys - thanks so much for replying!

I totally agree (re: patience with Ford) - I'm sure as these cars get older there will be more post's of others who have converted to manual.

I had a quote a few months back from a mechanic who said he could do it for $5000.....although he was a bit uncertain with the exact amount....still, if I go ahead with the conversion, I'll let you guys know....i'm sure it's a matter of using XR6 bits and pieces (very technical of me!) and a really good mechanic!!

Cheers Guys!

You can do it for less than $5k! My mate did his conversion almost 5 years ago (first successful retaining stock ECU AFAIK) for less than $3k.
