I think the stall converter is dead or very close to it. Make a high pitched buzzing over 2500rpm and in a short period of time, went from working as usual to not taking up until I rev it 4000rpm. And slipping, not changing gears.

Is it the box or convertor... or both?

Looks like you'll be doing the AU box into ED conversion before me... :D
Still waiting on Nick for a rough price.

If you're after a replacement converter and 4sp, theres one at Fordmods HQ.

I was having a bit of a think about a higher stall too CHEF.
If I've got to spend cash, may as well go the whole hog :P
Was having a think about JMM's high stall.
Anybody had a drive of a car with one of these in it?
What would they be like for a daily driver, having roughly a 2500 stall?

Hey did u end up getting this resolved? I have a complete 4 speed, and torque converter im looking to sell cheap. It come out of a ebii fairmont ghia family car and has never been thrashed etc. Also with the high stall i was talking to my local shop last week about one for my ef and he recomends to keep the standard one or at the absolute most a 2200rpm due to launching on boost and traction issues.

There's a guy on the Ford Forums with the JMM 3000rpm stally in an AU XR6 .... when driving sedately .. it works like a normal stally ... when really using excessive throttle (and braking off the line) it launches at the prescribed 3000rpm ... grabs hard too.

Seems to be very very happy with it.
