hi people,

im going to service my diff.

what sort of oil should i use?

the car is a 91 auto eb ford fairmont.
r there different types or is it all the same?

any help would be great.

definitly different types. from what i remember, diff oil is alot thicker than engine oil? cant tell you atm but if no1 has answerd ill tell you at around 6:30 tonight (when dad gets home) hes a mechanic :lol:

just go into an auto store and look it up in an oil catalogue - ensures your getting the right one. Just buy a big name brand (Castrol, Mobile, Penzoil, Penrite, Valvoline) won't make much difference at all! Prolly wanna get 2x 1L bottles as I think it's 1.6L capacity.

Just had a look in my Max Ellery repair manual. It specifies to use Hypoid gear oil 80W-90 GL5. This will cover all EA to ED differentials.

Should be a diferent fluid if it's LSD but.
