Hi I just wanted a rough price on how much a reasonable mechanic would charge me to get some work done on my diff, I have a lsd centre to go in so swap that over, think theres a bit of backlash to so fix that and change bearing and think axle might be bent unless its the bearing that's f**k either way just an APROX price.. (I have the new centre to go in to)

i got quoted 800 for a full rebuild on an lsd b/w 78 series if it helps.

If it is an ED, then a swap would be easiest and cheapest.

would an xf diff or a ef /el diff fit ok? I was told the xf one might need few things changed. or il need tailshaft from the xf and something to do with the brake line fittings. would the el /ef diff be ok to go in? would it ust be the handbrake setup that needs changing?

I am keen for this to but what about the diff out a EF/EL wouldn't it be flogged like no tomorrow ? |

I just changed the diff in my BA, and it cost $1000.I purchased a complete diff from a wrecker $250, my son rebuilt the head with a new set of gears $300, fitted new bushes all through, and just did a straight swap. Approx 4 hrs. As I only paid for parts,it was relatively cheap. Any wok that you have to pay for is going to be expensive, attempt to do it yourself.
