As far as I know my diff has never been serviced ... do they need to? How often and what grade of oil should I put in it?

generally speaking every 100,000k's. the type of oil used will vary with what type of diff it is

Just go into your local auto store ask to look at one of the lubricant books (Valvoline, Penrite, Penzoil, Castrol, Mobile, what ever) all have a catalogue that'll tell you what oil and how much

Jeez, i dunno what its advised to do, altho id say less than 100,000kms would be nice.
Mine was left till 90,000 and the oil out of it was horrid, and much smoother/quieter when replaced.
I would be doing it more often if you do any hard driving or anything you shouldnt be doing lol..

I think every around 25,000kms is fine for an every day type of car, imho..

Does it really say 100,000kms in the book as i havnt looked?

not needed, drain using the most bottom bolt and when filling just get a bottle with one of those pull out things, the castrol and penzoil 1 litre containers have em. jack up the back and put in stands on the body only allowing your diff to come down and hang. thats how i did it.
