Pre-BA diffs are totally different to BA/BF's. Just get a 3.7 a*** to suit your diff.

Is the stock BA Xt's a 3.23?

Is it worth getting it changed to 3.45LSD with all the speedo change buggering around? Is there a lot of work required?

to test if you have LSD... if you jack up the rear of the car, and spin one wheel one way...
which way should the other wheel spin?

They should both spin the same way!!!

Better test to see if your LSD works is to jack up one side only, and see if you can spin the wheel.
If it's really hard, or you cannot spin it - then your LSD is working!

If it spins freely, you have a single spinner or really badly stuffed LSD.

I have ED Fairmont 5.0L Auto ( soon to be 347cid) with 3.7 LSD which now has too much backlash.
Want to change to 9" with about same ratio.
What is involved or is it too hard?
Anyone know of one in Perth?

Richie.

$500+ for a rebuild and about $90 for a mini spool, till you snap something....

 I can only imagine... no need for a torque band with that sorta gearing.

yeah but its not as bad as you would expect as i have put a 5 speed in it as appose to the 4 speed they come with and 5th will give you 120 at 4100rpm but its alot of fun :)
