Do i need a special tool to compress the pistons on the caliper as im about to do a brand new rotor and pad change?

ea-ed u do, ef el u dont.
i normally just use an old pad and a g-clamp on the ef el's

Sort of. I was shown a work around on the EA to ED. there is a hex head on the back of the caliper. take the tension off this and you can do it the same as EF EL rear calipers. just make sure you do the hex head back up when your done.

and if youve really f**k up and need it back in RIGHT NOW you can pull the caliper apart and re assemble it with the park brake thingy all the way in :)

How about the AU? just removed the old pads and i can't put the caliper back on, not enough clearance. will a G-clamp do it? cheers
