So a few months ago we took the EL in for a service because of a hunting problem. It turned out to be the brake booster with an air leak, so fair enough, we got it replaced. They also said we needed the front rotors machined and new front pads. Had that done too. when we got it back however, the brakes were s***house! the car could still move even if you had the brakes flat to the floor. (at full throttle of course) The brake pedal also felt spongy and the outer pads on the front rotors were about 5mm away from the disk. (from what i know, the pads should be very close to or touching the disk)
So we took the car back and they said we needed new front clapers. we got them fitted and it made some change. The car doesn't move with the brakes fully pressed anymore and stops reasonably well. however, the brake pedal still has a bit of travel before they start to bite, and theres still about a 3mm gap between pad and disk.
Anyway the questions:
Why is there a 3mm gap when there wasn't any gap before all this? and could this be why the brake pedal is so spongy? or is there something else completely different causing both problems?
If this doesn't make any sense let me know.. ;)
Thanks

Did they bleed the brakes?
